What is an intensive course or crash course?

First of all, let’s look at why you might want to learn to drive.

Most people want to learn to drive at some point in their life. Whether they want to drive for pleasure, or they need the convenience of being able to drive so they can commute to work and back. Often, passing the driving test and gaining you car licence can enhance your career prospects as well. There are many reasons as to why someone might look towards gaining the UK car licence. Once you have decided to embark on learning to drive, which is the best method?

Traditional hourly lessons

Traditionally, people have learned to drive over a long period, perhaps over a year or more such as taking a one hour driving lesson once a week until they are competent at driving and ready to take the driving test, but this approach isn’t for everyone and is very old fashioned. Only learning at a rate of one hour a week can seem to take forever to some people, and there are also the costs involved. It may not seem expensive to start with taking hourly driving lessons, but as the weeks roll by the costs can soon mount up. With hourly driving lessons, there is also more downtime due to re-capping at the beginning and end of a lesson, not to mention the time and potential skill loss that can happen in the gap between the lessons.

Intensive course or Crash course?

For all intents and purpose, an intensive course or crash course are basically the same thing, just worded different. Although it might be perceived by some that an intensive course has more in the way of structure and is better controlled with a set training schedule designed for the person taking the course. This would normally be structured by the instructor who has some experience with the person they are training and can judge how much training they will need to reach the current DVSA test standard. Think of it this way, you could learn to drive at one hour a week over a twelve month period and potentially amass 52 hours of training, or you could just condense the hours and complete the same amount of training over two weeks. You are getting the same amount of training, but in a shorter time frame, with much less downtime between lessons.

At Parrot Driver Training we never book a test for a student without knowing their ability to drive.

No matter what your abilitly to drive is - we can get you on the road quickly, safely and efficiently and tailor your intensive driving lessons to suit your personal ability.
